The Disneyland Resort is receiving approvals for permits
related to the construction of its new Marvel-themed land at Disney California
Adventure Park in Anaheim, Calif., according to the Los Angeles Times.
The Times reported
that Anaheim has recently approved building permits
for a retail outlet, a microbrewery, a character
meet-and-greet area and a bathroom overhaul. It is a $14 million project.
The Marvel-themed land is expected to open in 2020. Disney
and the Avengers will play prominent roles. Guardians of the Galaxy already has a presence
in California Adventure with the attraction Mission: Breakout!
Mission: Breakout!, located in the reimagined
Twilight Zone Tower of Terror building, will anchor the Marvel land. It will
also take over the space formerly occupied by A Bug's Land, which
was shuttered last year.
The news comes on the heels of the antcipated May 31 opening
of Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge,
located just to the north in Disneyland Park.
In addition to the Marvel additions at Disney's California Adventure,
Epcot, Disneyland Paris and Hong Kong Disneyland also are slated to get new Marvel attractions.
