A drone video by Douglas Thron, posted on YouTube, shows the
fire destruction in Santa Rosa, Calif., including to the Hilton Sonoma and
Fountaingrove hotels.
The Hilton Sonoma Wine Country had extensive fire
damage and is closed indefinitely," the hotel wrote in an Oct. 10 post on
its Facebook page. "As of this evening, our staff has not been permitted
to return to the property."
Adjacent to that 13-acre property, the Fountaingrove Inn "fell
victim to the devastating fire in Sonoma County, and guests were subsequently
evacuated," wrote Justin Hayman, the hotel's general manager, on its
website last week. "At this time, we are unable to conduct business in any
capacity."
Less than a mile away and just on the other side of Highway
101, the Best Western Plus Wine Country Inn & Suites was also shut down.
"The hotel has suffered some damage but very minimal
especially considering what our neighbors have endured," the hotel wrote
in an Oct. 11 Facebook post. "As of right now, the hotel is obviously not
open for guests. We are working on getting the hotel operational again as soon
as possible. We will let you all know when we are open again."
Other hotels in California's wine country closed because of
loss of power or bad air quality from the smoke.
