The Jumeirah Burj Al Arab, Dubai's iconic sail-shaped hotel, is set to undergo a phased renovation, which is expected to last approximately 18 months.
Plans for the revamp have been in the works for more than two years, according to a Jumeirah spokesperson.
The project will be led by Paris-based interior architect Tristan Auer, whose past work includes the Hotel de Crillon in Paris. Jumeirah said the restoration will focus on "upgrading the hotel's interior decor while preserving its distinctive character."
The announcement comes as Dubai's hotel sector navigates significant headwinds amid the ongoing Iran War.
Recent CoStar data for late February and March shows Dubai occupancy plummeted from 78% in the second week of Ramadan 2026 to just 21% by the fourth week and final two days of the holiday, marking a sharp contrast to the 71%-75% range recorded during the same period in 2025. Eid occupancy fell to 34%, down from 87% the prior year.
Opened in 1999, the Jumeirah Burj Al Arab is widely credited with helping establish Dubai as an ultraluxury hospitality hot spot.
