The B Ocean Resort in Fort Lauderdale, the former Sheraton Yankee Clipper, will start undergoing renovations in August.

B Hotels and Resorts reflagged the 59-year-old landmark hotel late last year, after Carlyle Group acquired the property from Starwood Capital. The hotel was designed to look like a cruise ship.

The hotel will remain open during renovations, which are slated for completion by next summer.

The 60-year-old hotel, which was designed to look like a cruise ship, formerly flew under Starwood Hotels’ Sheraton flag. Starwood Capital (no relation to Starwood Hotels) sold the property to Carlyle Group late last year.

B also has hotels in Orlando and Savannah, Ga. The company had previously operated a 240-room hotel in Fort Lauderdale, but that property was sold last year and rebranded as a Sonesta.
