After a six-week closure resulting from tsunami damage caused by the March 11 Japan earthquake, the Four Seasons Resort Hualalai on the Big Island will open its doors to guests April 30.

High water from the tsunami surge damaged 12 guestrooms and inundated large sections of the property's landscaping, pools and beachfront restaurant with sand and debris.

The resort's staff were retained throughout the closure and helped to repair landscaping, the beach and walkways. New beach furniture and oceanfront seating was added at Pahuia Restaurant, along with private lawns and outdoor lanais for several suites.
