Caesars Entertainment will close Harrah’s Tunica in northwest Mississippi on June 1.
Caesars will maintain operations at Horseshoe Tunica, which is being upgraded, and the Tunica Roadhouse Hotel and Casino.
"We have come to the difficult but necessary conclusion to close Harrah's Tunica in an effort to appropriately position our business for the current market opportunity and ensure the long-term viability of our remaining operations in the vicinity," said John Payne, president of Caesars’ central markets and partnership development.
The 1,356-room hotel opened in 1996.
Last year, Caesars' revenue from its U.S. properties outside of Las Vegas and Atlantic City fell 4.1% from a year earlier.
Tunica is about 40 miles from Memphis.
