CANNES, France -- Hilton International is looking to grow its portfolio of hotels by creating new franchise opportunities for its Hilton and mid-market Scandic brands, according to an announcement March 12 at the International Property Market here.

Hilton International said it has "developed a franchise business model with the help of its US Alliance partner Hilton Hotels Corp.," which has nearly 2,000 franchised hotels in operation. We are keen to tell the market we now franchise the Hilton and Scandic brands in key locations throughout the world. Our aim is to grow the business and identify key partners who want to be a part of the Hilton and Scandic success," said Deepak Seth, Hilton International development director.

Hilton International is an operating division of the U.K.-based Hilton Group. It owns the rights to the Hilton brand name throughout the world, with the exception of North America.

In other news, Hilton said it signed a deal with Princess Hotels & Resorts Corp., which owns the 204-room Hotel Princess Zona Rosa in San Salvador, El Salvador.

The resort will change its name to the Hilton Princess San Salvador and will be Hilton International's first franchise hotel in Central America.
