Host Marriott sells six hotels

BETHESDA, Md. -- Host Marriott Corp., in three separate transactions, sold six hotels it owned with total proceeds of approximately $223 million.

The sale encompasses the Albuquerque (N.M.) Marriott; the Bethesda (Md.) Marriott; the Hartford Marriott Farmington in Farmington, Conn.; the Salt Lake City Marriott Downtown; the Tampa (Fla.) Marriott Westshore; and the Torrance (Calif.) Marriott.

The proceeds from the sale will be reinvested in the purchase of upper-upscale or luxury hotels, Host Marriott said.

Separately, DiamondRock Hospitality Co. said it was one of the companies acquiring hotels from Host Marriott, picking up the 487-room Torrance Marriott hotel, located near Los Angeles for $61.5 million and the 510-room Salt Lake City Marriott Downtown for $49.5 million.
