The Hotel Wailea in Maui will be Hawaii’s first property to join the Relais & Chateaux collection.
The property, which sits 300 feet above the Pacific, has
completed a first phase of renovations that cost $15 million.
The Cabanas, a new poolside lounge, features a fire pit, Dedon lounge seating,
sun chaises, aqua loungers and circular pod daybeds.
renovation phase, to be completed this spring, will include an ocean view treehouse where guests can get
private spa treatments.
The hotel, formerly a Japanese private members club, has 72
one-bedroom suites, all with a new "relaxed beach house design."
Relais & Chateaux, formed in 1954, has more than
500 members worldwide.
