Hotel firm to break ground on resort in Turks and Caicos

Groundbreaking is set for June 3 for the Tanai luxury residential resort on the northwestern tip of Providenciales, Turks and Caicos, near sister property the Amanyara resort.

Opening is targeted for early 2010, according to developer Global Hotel Management.

The project includes a 60-room, 10-suite resort with a for-purchase villa and residential component. The villas and private homes will be placed in the resort's rental pool when not owner-occupied.

The resort's name comes from the Taino Indians, the first inhabitants of the Turks and Caicos Islands.

Facilities will include an 18-hole Tom Fazio-designed golf course, an infinity pool, gardens, reflecting ponds, a spa, five restaurants and bars, tennis courts and watersports.
