A subsidiary of Hyatt Hotels has agreed to buy the Thompson Miami Beach and rename it The Confidante. The hotel will join Hyatt's new Unbound Collection of independent hotels.

The hotel was sold by Geolo Capital, a company headed by Hyatt heir John Pritzker.

The transaction is expected to close in late April.

“We are thrilled to expand our presence in Miami Beach, a market in which we have great unmet demand from our guests," said Stephen Haggerty, Hyatt's global head of real estate and capital strategy.

Hyatt opened a hotel in Miami Beach last year under its new lifestyle brand, Centric. It is Hyatt's only Miami Beach hotel.

The Thompson opened in November 2014 after an extensive renovation of the former Churchill Suites Crown apartments.
