IHG Hotels & Resorts has inked a deal to bring its InterContinental brand to Papua New Guinea.

Scheduled to open in late 2028, the 179-room InterContinental Port Moresby will be part of a mixed-use development in the capital's diplomatic precinct, located near the National Parliament House and the Supreme and National Court as well as multiple foreign embassies.

The property will feature multiple dining venues, a lobby lounge, a pool bar and a Club Lounge. It will also be home to a fitness center, outdoor pool and 6,400 square feet of meeting space.

According to IHG, the property will be well positioned to attract dignitaries, business travelers and international guests. The hotel will be in a development with 64,600 square feet of office space.

The InterContinental Port Moresby will join 16 InterContinental hotels, plus two others in the pipeline, in IHG's luxury portfolio in the Australasia/Pacific region.
