Dubai’s JW Marriott Marquis Hotel, billed as the world’s tallest hotel, has opened.
Half of the hotel’s 1,608 rooms became available to the public Monday, with the other half of the hotel slated to open in January.
In all, the two-tower hotel will have 14 restaurants, bars and lounges. An official grand opening is scheduled for February.
At 1,165 feet, the 72-story hotel is about 100 feet taller than Jumeirah’s Burj Al Arab hotel about eight miles away.
The JW Marriott is about 85 feet shorter than New York City’s Empire State Building.
