Joie de Vivre Hospitality in the fall plans to open the Citizen Hotel in downtown Sacramento, Calif. Joie de Vivre is promoting the 197-room hotel as the city's "most distinctive meetings and events space."
The Citizen Hotel is being created from the 82-year-old former Cal Western Life building. The property will have 15,000 square feet of event space, including meetings rooms, a ballroom and a terrace overlooking the state capitol.
The hotel's restaurant will cater events, incorporating a menu featuring locally sourced ingredients.
Also, Joie de Vivre this week opened the Domain Hotel in Sunnyvale, Calif. The former Radisson in the Bay-area city has 124 rooms and 12 suites on three levels.
The hotel's Silicon Valley location is reflected in the name of its restaurant, Bytes. The restaurant features a menu of "big drinks and small plates" that incorporate seasonally available fresh produce, said Joie de Vivre. Bytes is partnering with several local vineyards to host poolside wine tasting and pairing events during the spring, summer and fall.
