KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has started promoting Airbnb
accommodations on its website, in what’s believed to be the first
cross-promotional agreement between Airbnb and an airline.
Prospective guests click on KLM’s “Destinations” section, pick
a destination, then click on the
“Accommodation” tab. Airbnb listings at more than 600 global destinations are
presented on the site.
KLM and Airbnb launched the promotion by creating an
“apartment” out of a retired KLM aircraft at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport,
where a contest winner was temporarily hosted.
KLM will add an link for Airbnb listings to its homepage
starting next year.
