The first U.S. Legoland Hotel opened adjacent to Legoland’s Southern California theme park last week.
The 250-room hotel, located about 35 miles north of San Diego in Carlsbad, Calif., includes more than 3,500 Lego models totaling more than 3 million Lego bricks.
The hotel has three room themes — Kingdom, Adventure and Pirate — and has a smoke-breathing Lego dragon at its entrance. Guests can get preopening morning access to the adjoining theme park, which opened in 1999.
The first Legoland Hotel opened in Denmark in 1991, while a 180-room Legoland Hotel opened at Legoland Windsor Resort near London last year.
Legoland Florida opened in Winter Haven in 2011, though that park doesn't have a Legoland Hotel.
