Magic Kingdom getting new welcome show

Early-morning visitors to Disney World's Magic Kingdom will experience a new welcome show, starting Jan. 9.

The show, to be performed on the Cinderella Castle's forecourt stage, replaces the current show at the Main Street train station.

Starting Jan. 9, guests will be allowed to enter the Main Street, U.S.A. area of the park before the rest of the Magic Kingdom opens. The Main Street Bakery featuring Starbucks will be open for breakfast and coffee.

Disney said that when the opening moment arrives, "a royal herald will appear to deliver a proclamation and welcome a few familiar characters to the stage, officially opening the park so the magic can begin."
