The Boston Ames Hotel has switched its management to StepStone Hospitality from Morgans Hotel Group.

The 114-room hotel, now known as the Ames Boston, was opened by Morgans in late 2009. As of the end of last year, Morgans owned 31% of the Ames and its management contract was scheduled to expire in 2024.

StepStone, based in Providence, R.I., operates 10 other hotels, including the SpringHill Suites Boston Peabody, Courtyard Fort Lauderdale Oceanfront and New Orleans Marriott Metairie at Lakeway.

Morgans has been embroiled in a lengthy proxy battle with its largest shareholder over allegations of mismanagement. Morgans' board of directors was voted out last month.
