Edition, the lifestyle brand that’s a collaboration between
Marriott International and hotelier Ian Schrager, will open its first New York
hotel next month. On Tuesday, the hotel’s website was taking reservations
starting May 18.
The hotel is a
conversion of the Met Life building’s clock tower in the city’s NoMad district. The 41-story building was the city’s tallest for four years
after its 1909 completion.
New York Edition will have 273 rooms as well as a 39th floor
fitness center and spa. The hotel will also include a second-floor restaurant
overlooking Madison Square Park.
Last week, Marriott completed the sale of the hotel to the Abu
Dhabi Investment Authority for $343 million. Previously, Abu Dhabi acquired Edition
hotels in London and Miami Beach. The three hotels traded for $816 million.
The Miami Beach Edition opened earlier this year, while the
London Edition debuted in 2013.
