Northern California's first hotel under Hyatt Hotels' Andaz upscale boutique brand opened in the Napa Valley after Hyatt reflagged one of the Avia hotels it acquired last year.
The 141-room Andaz Napa features a restaurant and bar that highlight local cuisine and wines. The hotel also includes 2,600 square feet of meetings space that can accommodate as many as 100 people.
Hyatt acquired the Avia properties in 2011 as part of its $660 million purchase of LodgeWorks LP. That acquisition included 20 hotels under the Hotel Sierra, Hyatt Place and Hyatt Summerfield Suites brands, in addition to Avia. Hyatt at the time slated the Hotel Sierra properties as Summerfield Suites hotels while targeting the Avia hotels as full-service properties.
Hyatt has seven Andaz hotels, including two properties in New York as well as one each in San Diego, West Hollywood (Calif.), London and Shanghai. Another Avia hotel in Savannah, Ga., also is in the process of being converted into an Andaz hotel.
