Edward Steiner, known as a top hotelier in Los Cabos, Mexico, died on Dec. 30. He was 64.

Steiner ran the One&Only Palmilla from its opening in 2004 until 2012. Under his leadership, the One&Only won several awards as a top luxury resort, including from Travel+Leisure, Robb Report and Conde Nast Traveler.

In 2008, Steiner was promoted to senior vice president of Latin America and the Caribbean for One&Only Resorts, while continuing to manage the One&Only Palmilla.

Among Steiner’s personal awards, he was named best hotelier in Mexico in 2006 by Alta Hoteleria, a Mexican publication.

Before joining the One&Only Palmilla, Steiner was in charge of operations at Rosewood’s Las Ventanas al Paraiso, a luxury resort in Los Cabos. The resort achieved AAA Five Diamond status under his leadership.
