Playa Hotels & Resorts said reports that it has acquired the Ritz-Carlton Rose Hall in Jamaica are not accurate. The company said it is in negotiations to acquire the luxury hotel.

"The sale is not complete. Because of the nature of the negotiations we cannot comment further at the time. If and when the sale is complete, we will issue additional information regarding future plans for the resort," Bruce Wardinski, Playas’s chairman and CEO, said in a statement.

As previously reported, Ritz-Carlton will no longer operate the resort, effective May 20.

Playa owns 17 all-inclusive properties in the Dominican Republic and Mexico.

Its properties operate under the Secrets and Dreams brands (managed by AMResorts) and the Barcelo and Barcelo Premium brands (managed by Barcelo Hotels & Resorts).
