Riu Hotels & Resorts has
entered New York with the opening of a 647-room hotel in midtown Manhattan.
The Riu Plaza New York Times Square,
which was developed by the Mallorca-based hotel company, is located on West
46th Street, about a block west of Times Square proper.
The $310 million newbuild hotel
has a modern design and includes two conference rooms that can accommodate 70
and 75 people, respectively.
Riu Hotels & Resorts now has
five hotels under its Riu Plaza urban brand, in Berlin;
Panama City, Panama; Guadalajara, Mexico; and Miami Beach. The Miami Beach property was a conversion from
the Riu Florida Beach.
