Los Angeles-based SBE Entertainment Group, the company that operates the SLS hotel brand, will expand into Mexico where it plans to manage five new resorts.

The first two resorts will be built in Medano Beach in Cabo San Lucas and in the heart of the hotel zone in Cancun. The remaining three properties will be built in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico City and Punta Mita.

The projects will be built by Armar Group, a Mexican real estate development and investment company, and will include residential units, club membership units, restaurants and nightclubs.

The first phase of the Cabo project, scheduled to open in 2017, will include a 200-room SLS Lux Hotel and 250 residential/SBE club membership units.

The Cancun project will have a 250-room SLS Lux Hotel and 150 club units and is slated to open in 2018.

There are SLS hotels in Las Vegas, Miami Beach and Beverly Hills, Calif., and hotels in development at Baha Mar in the Bahamas, Philadelphia, Miami, Seattle and New York.
