Wyoming's Four Seasons Resort Jackson Hole and Joie de Vivre’s Ventana Inn & Spa in Big Sur, Calif., were among seven U.S. hotels feted by Smith Travel Research (STR) for their recent performance.
The Four Seasons and Ventana Inn were given awards for best-performing luxury and upper-upscale hotels, respectively.
South Beach’s Crowne Plaza Z Ocean Hotel and the Best Western Plus Beach Resort in Fort Myers Beach, Fla., won the awards for the upscale and upper-midscale segments, respectively.
The Best Western King Charles Inn in Charleston, S.C., won STR’s best-performing award for the midscale segment, while the Super 8 in Nacogdoches, Texas and California’s San Ysidro Ranch took the economy and independent awards, respectively.
STR announced the awards this past weekend at a ceremony in Nashville. Hotels were judged on a combination of their occupancy, revenue per available room (RevPAR) and room rates during 2010 and 2011, and how they compared to other hotels in their sectors.
