Sol Melia Hotels & Resorts will debut
the upscale 486-suite Gran Melia Puerto Rico resort when it reflags
its all-inclusive Paradisus Puerto Rico, located in Rio Grande
approximately an hour east of San Juan, on May 1.
The Gran Melia
Puerto Rico, which will no longer be an all-inclusive property,
will join the Gran Melia Cancun (Mexico) as the second Gran Melia
resort in the Caribbean.
Sol Melia's changes to the property
refect new market trends and consumer profiles, according to Andre
Gerondeau, executive vice president of Sol Melia North America and
the Caribbean.
"Gran Melia's
global reputation for top-notch service and quality will make it an
ideal fit for Puerto Rico and a standout within its market,"
Gerondeau said.
Enhancements to
the resort under the Gran Melia banner will include introducing The
Level, a customized service for top-paying guests that will offer
exclusive pool and beach areas, a personal concierge and other
services.
Gran Melia Puerto
Rico also will revamp its culinary offerings with Spanish-Puerto
Rican cuisine, a grill and an international restaurant.
The resort also
will include the Yhi Spa, Sol Melia's new spa brand. The
11,000-square-foot facility will offer health and wellness
treatments.
