Professional soccer star
David Beckham and Brazilian resort developer Torben Frantzen
unveiled the first phase of Cabo Sao Roque, Brazil's newest
lifestyle destination resort and vacation residence community.
The resort is located between Natal and
Fortaleza on Brazil's Atlantic coast.
Beckham also introduced plans for the
David Beckham World of Sport, a training center for amateur and
professional soccer players that will include eight soccer fields.
The facility will incorporate a scholarship program for Brazilian
schoolchildren in the region.
Also announced were two sports attractions
developed by Rubens Barrichello, a Formula 1 auto champion from
Brazil. These attractions include a four-wheel Driving Experience
race course for auto enthusiasts as well as the Barrichello Auto
Arena go-kart racing experience for families.
Additional sports facilities will include
an International Tennis Academy, International Polo &
Equestrian Centre and two 18-hole golf courses.
The residential component of the
development calls for 1,350 residences to be built as part of the
first phase, including homes for both Beckham and Barrichello.
Hotel partners and additional alliances
with other sports icons will be announced later this year. Plans
call for three luxury hotels with restaurants, cafes, bars, pools,
water sports and health centers.
Developer Brazil Development Investimentos
Turisticos will invest in infrastructure upgrades in the nearby
fishing village of Maxaranguape that will help grow the local
economy and support Brazil's national tourism investment
strategy.
