The Hotel Le Christopher in Pointe Milou on St. Barts' northeastern coast will reopen Nov. 10 after a year's closure for renovations with daily introductory rates from $136 per room, double, including Continental buffet breakfast, through Dec. 20.
"The last time St. Barts saw a rate like this for four-star comfort was when Richard Nixon was president," said David Henderson, general manager. "We want to reinvent pricing to welcome our guests with an unbeatable price."
The $136 rate will be available in 15 of the resort's 41 rooms and two suites; after Dec. 20, the rate jumps to $455 per night, double, for the same room. (The dollar amount may fluctuate slightly since the hotel's rates are quoted Euros.)
"To make this rate possible, we've cut out turndown service and room service. There is no maid service on Sundays and the reception desk closes at 6 p.m. daily," Henderson said.
In addition, the hotel's restaurant serves lunch only Mondays through Saturdays, but numerous bistros and bars are a 10-minute drive from the property.
Each of the 15 rooms available at the $136 rate features a garden or pool view, patio or terrace, air conditioning and ceiling fans, mahogany furniture, teak patio loungers, satellite TV and a mini-refrigerator.
The hotel closed last November for a major renovation of the property by the owners.
Although the money for the project did not come through at the time, some minor renovations and updates have been completed and plans are in place to look again at a major overhaul, depending upon the outcome of the upcoming peak season.
