The Taj and Oberoi hotels in Mumbai were two of at least seven locations in the Indian city where terrorist attacks occurred on Wednesday, according to published reports.
The Times of India reports that at least 80 people have been killed and that more than 250 have been injured throughout the city.
The coordinated attacks appear to be focused on locations popular with foreigners.
According to the Times of India, the attack began at the CST (formerly known as the Victoria Terminus), Mumbai’s busiest railway station, at 10:33 p.m. local time. Terrorists entered the terminal, firing assault rifles and throwing grenades.
Gunfire also was reported at the Taj and Oberoi luxury hotels. Eyewitnesses said the Oberoi was on fire and the hotel evacuated, reported the Times of India.
