Hilton Hotels has announced that it will operate a Waldorf-Astoria hotel in downtown Philadelphia. Opening is scheduled for 2012.
The 58-story Waldorf-Astoria Hotel and Residences Philadelphia will be located at the corner of 15th and Chestnut streets. The granite-and-glass tower will house 136 residences (prices start at $1 million each) and 175 hotel rooms.
When entering from Chestnut Street, hotel guests will be directed to a sky lobby 155 feet above street level. A promenade will connect the two restaurants at the east and west ends of the building, paying homage to the Peacock Alley lobby promenade in the New York hotel. There will also be a seasonal outdoor restaurant.
The 10th floor of the hotel will offer a 5,600-square-foot ballroom, 3,500 square feet of pre-function space overlooking City Hall and a 2,500-square-foot junior ballroom that can be divided into smaller meetings rooms.
Hotel amenities will include 24-hour room service, a spa and fitness center, an indoor pool, a conference center and two cocktail lounges.
