Hoping to turn Visitmexico.com into an integral tourism portal, the Mexico Tourism Board inked a deal with Travelocity under which the online travel site will power Visitmexico.com's booking engine for the U.S. market.
Under the agreement, Travelocity will provide a number of travel products on the tourism board's site, including hotels, flights, car rentals and air-inclusive hotel packages.
"The launch of this new shopping and booking engine is a major milestone" in promoting Mexico, said Oscar Fitch, CEO of the Mexico Tourism Board.
"We need to get the message out that Mexico is an affordable destination with tremendous value."
The agreement comes at a time when Travelocity's Mexico bookings are up 31.4% this summer, compared with the same period last year, according to Travelocity.
