Luxury tour operator &Beyond has hired Mark Wheeler to be regional managing director for East Africa and South Asia beginning May 1.
Wheeler worked on-and-off for Abercrombie & Kent over the last 20 years, including as general manager for the Western Cape in South Africa, and then in the destination management division for South America. In March 2010, he returned to east Africa as managing director of A&K's Kenya and Uganda operations. Wheeler left A&K in late 2012.
Wheeler will be based in &Beyond's Nairobi, Kenya, office and will be charged with growing the company's business in Kenya, Tanzania, India, Bhutan and Sri Lanka.
