The hills are alive with the sound of set-jetting, from Vermont to Austria.
EF Go Ahead Tours announced its partnership with the von Trapp Family Lodge & Resort in Stowe, Vt., and a special departure date in Austria that is led by a member of the von Trapp family.
The new itinerary is part of the tour operator's North America collection, bringing travelers from Quebec City in Canada to Stowe before finishing the tour in Boston.
And in Austria, EF partnered with Kristina von Trapp Frame, a third-generation member of the von Trapp family made famous by "The Sound of Music." She is the granddaughter of Maria von Trapp and grew up on the family's 2,600-acre property in Stowe, where her grandparents fled in 1942 during the Nazi occupation of Austria.
"Growing up in Stowe at the von Trapp Family Lodge & Resort gave me a uniquely immersive upbringing, eventually playing and working on the land my grandparents built into a beloved destination," von Trapp Frame said.
The resort "is a little of Austria, a lot of Vermont," von Trapp Frame said, adding that she was especially honored to host a tour in Austria.
She will lead the company's "A Week in Austria" itinerary, visiting Vienna, Salzburg and the Alps while von Trapp Frame shares the story of her family, bringing it to life where it took place.
