Three weeks after floodwaters from the Souris River spilled through Minot, N.D., site of MLT Vacations' reservations center, the cleanup and recovery processes continue.
Although the res facility was not damaged, many employees had significant damage to their homes.
MLT established a supplemental call center at its headquarters in Edina, Minn., to maintain uninterrupted service to travel agents and customers.
Relief efforts for Minot employees got underway immediately after the floods. Emergency supplies were trucked to Minot from MLT headquarters.
The company implemented a special leave policy for some paid time off for employees dealing with the flood damage.
"We set up an on-site clinic to provide tetanus shots for those who are at risk working around sharp construction materials," a spokesperson said.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency has a temporary facility in MLT's parking lot in Minot, and Red Cross representatives are on hand to offer services.
Travel partners (including Sandals Resorts, TraficTours) as well as a number of travel agents and other MLT employees made contributions to the MLT Minot Flood Relief Fund.
Donations to the fund can be sent to 4660 West 77th St., Edina, MN 55435.
