This month, longtime
Asia specialist Pacific Delight Tours is launching South America product under
a new brand called PDT Tours.
Eric Oborski, president of Pacific Delight Tours, is spearheading the initiative. Oborski
joined the company in 2013 as an executive consultant for global destinations,
hired to guide the tour operator’s expansion into new markets.
Oborski became president of Pacific Delight in April when
Larry Kwan retired.
PDT Tours' initial South
America destinations are Peru, Argentina,
Chile and Brazil. They are already available on the new PDTTours.com. Oborski advised that the website is in a soft launch phase and
will be updated in the coming weeks.
The decision to
expand beyond Asia comes at a time when Asia is experiencing less growth and there is opportunity in South America, Oborski said.
“There’s not a lot of
competition into South America like there is into Europe or even Asia,” said
And as for Asia, “China is not growing as fast as it was,” Oborski said. He added
that the plan was to expand beyond Asia regardless of market conditions.
Eventually, the name
PDT Tours will encompass the entire product offering and the name Pacific
Delight Tours will be phased out.
The company plans
to expand to more destinations, possibly the United Arab Emirates.
Just as with Pacific
Delight Tours, the new South America trips will be divided into Gold and
Silver product lines that cater to different budgets.
