Travel industry nonprofit organization Tourism Cares will induct three industry leaders into the Tourism Hall of Fame on May 29, including Bob Sullivan, executive vice president and group publisher of Northstar Travel Media, Travel Weekly's parent company.
Sullivan will be inducted alongside Phillip Gordon, chairman of the Globus Family of Brands, and Steve Gorga, president and CEO of Travel Impressions, during a dinner and reception being held on May 29 at the Crowne Plaza Times Square Hotel in New York.
The event will coincide with the organization's 10th anniversary celebration of its annual Tourism Cares for America volunteer project. On May 30 and 31, for the 10th anniversary project, volunteers will help to restore Coney Island following the devastation of Superstorm Sandy.
The Tourism Hall of Fame recognizes individuals who have made significant personal and professional contributions to the travel and tourism industry through philanthropic, volunteer and mentoring activities.
A portion of the proceeds from the reception and dinner, which will also feature a silent auction, will benefit nonprofit tourist sites affected by Superstorm Sandy, which devastated the Northeast last fall. Follow Michelle Baran on Twitter @mbtravelweekly.
