ASTA pursues Premium members internationally

ASTA's board unanimously voted to open its Premium membership category to international travel agency members. Previously, travel agents were required to reside in the U.S. or one of its territories to become a Premium member.

In order to increase international membership, ASTA is offering two incentives. ASTA is offering a $50 discount on first-year dues for international agents (usually $365), funded by Marriott. In addition, international suppliers who join ASTA will receive a free list of up to 100 U.S.-based travel agent contacts from the niche or location of their choice (an $80 value, said ASTA).

ASTA made its announcement regarding international agents at its International Destination Expo in Lyon, France. Also in Lyon, ASTA's board unanimously voted to approve ASTA membership in the World Travel Agents Associations Alliance (WTAAA), a group of travel agent associations from across the globe. WTAAA aims to facilitate exchanges of information and advice on matters of mutual interest to its members.
