ASTA's Global Convention is not just a new name for what had been TheTradeShow, but also an event with new elements, according to ASTA.
The convention will be held in Miami Sept. 17 to 19. Keynote speaker is Hillary Rodham Clinton, former U.S. Secretary of State; Clinton will address attendees during the closing session.
"Our job at ASTA is to help travel agents win and retain more business. The new convention format re-emphasizes the educational nature of our association," said Zane Kerby , ASTA's president and CEO. "The world is changing rapidly and we are here to arm agents with tools to compete."
The new format will offer education and training for a variety of groups, including the Hispanic Caucus and Young Professionals Society, as well as sessions for its chapter networks, allied and premium members and cruise and tour specialists.
Enhanced education options with exclusive content for experienced agents, owners, managers and executives of travel companies will also be offered.
Other new features include a General Session luncheon, an Opening Night event at the Miami Bayside Marketplace and golf Tournament. In addition, an innovations competition will feature suppliers bringing new products and services to market.
One tradition remains, the Advocacy Dinner, which will be held Sept. 18.
