ICTA debuts Web-based learning option

WELLESLEY, Mass. -- The Institute of Certified Travel Agents developed a virtual E-Learning Center, a way for agents to acquire insights from industry speakers and work-shops without leaving their homes or offices.

The only things an agent needs to gain access to the virtual meetings are a telephone and an Internet-ready computer.

Each session features a presenter; PowerPoint or software presentation; document sharing; polling, and opportunities to interact with the instructor and other participants.

ICTA's lineup for this month and next includes such topics as Fine Tuning Your Service Fee Program, by Sande Davidson of Davidson Travel; The Best Kept Secret in the Travel Industry, by Gavin Tollman of Trafalgar Tours, and Gay and Lesbian Travel: How to Reach and Serve the Market of the Century, by Tom Roth of Travel Alternatives Group.

Other future discussions include 10 Good Reasons to Revisit Britain; Customer Service; Finder's Keepers; Selling Hawaii; CTA Test Review sessions, and a CTC Test Review.

According to ICTA president Jack Mannix, the goal of the program is to empower travel professionals to work more efficiently and productively with one another as well as with customers by enhancing skills without compromising time.
