Nancy Novogrod, the longtime editor in chief at Travel + Leisure magazine, will retire “in the next few months to pursue a new chapter,” according to an email message to Time Inc. employees.
Time Inc. acquired Travel + Leisure and other titles from American Express’ publishing arm last fall.
Novogrod has spent 21 years at the helm of Travel + Leisure. For the past nine years, she has participated in Travel Weekly’s annual Consumer Travel Editors Roundtable.
“Under her extraordinary leadership, T+L has become the undisputed trendsetter in the travel industry,” Time Inc. said in a statement. “Nancy and her team have led T+L to its highest audience ever, which now stands at more than 6.5 million.”
Novogrod will work with Time Inc. to hire a successor, the company said.
“I will miss so many of the people I have worked with here, but am eager to move on to a new adventure, and to hand over the reins and huge opportunities of this brand to a new editor," Novogrod said in a statement.
