TRUMBULL, Conn. -- Paul N. D'Elia Jr. died at the Lord Chamberlain Nursing Home in Stratford. He was 80.

D'Elia, whose grandfather, Frank D'Elia, started a travel business in Bridgeport in 1902, was the owner and general manager of the D'Elia Agency, a chain of four retail travel agencies here and in Bridgeport.

He retired and sold the agencies in 1980.

A charter member of the Institute of Certified Travel Agents, D'Elia is survived by his wife and business partner, Rita; two sons; and a daughter, Valarie, who hosts a nationally syndicated radio travel show.

D'Elia also served in the Navy and was a member of the American Legion.

Contributions can be made to the Bridgeport Lions Club Speak Up Contest, which D'Elia founded.
