NEW YORK -- Travel Leaders Network is offering new educational offerings in 2018, including three new major training programs.


The programs are Successful Selling Using the Leisure Sales Process, a 16-week study program focused on leisure sales; Group Travel Specialist Program, which teaches the planning, selling, managing and marketing of group travel; and new meetings and events workshops at two-day, on-site training events.

There will be a reboot of the Active & Adventure Travel Specialist curriculum designed with the Adventure Travel Trade Association. Perry Lungmus, Travel Leaders Network's vice president of sales, said the curriculum has been in existence for three years, and a relaunch was in order. The course focuses on soft adventure travel like skiing and biking.

More than 40,000 agents in 2017 participated in at least one of the network's on-demand online classes, and nearly 11,500 agents used its learning-management system for the first time last year.

Its specialist programs -- in-depth courses that usually take agents at least a year to complete -- had 430 new enrollees in 2017 as well as 59 new graduates.

The network also announced a rebranding of its annual conference, this year taking place in June at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. It will no longer have a theme each year, as conferences have in years past. For 2018 and beyond, the conference's moniker will be EDGE, which stands for "Educate, Discover, Gather, Evolve."

Travel Leaders Network has about 6,800 locations in the U.S. and Canada with about 40,000 agents under its umbrella. In 2017, 300 agencies were added to the network.

The network was officially created last January, when Vacation.com, Travel Leaders and Results Travel were combined.
