Organic traffic to Travel Leaders' lead-generating website, TravelLeaders.com, has returned to 2019 levels, indicating consumers are again interested in traveling.

During a media briefing Friday afternoon, Stephen McGillivray, chief marketing and communications officer of Travel Leaders Group, discussed the return of organic traffic.

Unsurprisingly, in 2020, traffic "fell off a cliff" in March, he said. But from January to April 2021, things are improving and matching 2019 levels.

"Which is a great story, because we know in January through April of 2019, things were going gangbusters. So this helps us think that, look, we're coming out of this," McGillivray said, "If our organic traffic to our lead-generating site travelleaders.com is equal now in January to April of 2021 to what it was in 2019, that tells us customers are back, looking, searching, wanting help."

Travel Leaders is also seeing evidence that consumers are out and about once again, perhaps indicative of the increasing numbers of fully vaccinated Americans.

In 2019, McGillivray said, 65% of leads came from mobile phones. In 2020, 65% of leads came from desktop computers, indicating people were quarantined in their houses. Now, in 2021, 65% of leads are again coming from mobile phones.
