Amadeus and online travel company Travix say they are producing
about 10,000 NDC bookings per month.
NDC (New Distribution Capability) enables airlines to
present richer content to consumers, such as including ancillaries in their
fare offers and using customer data to present personalized offers.
NDC content -- displayed alongside traditional GDS fares --
can be found on Travix's websites in Germany, the Netherlands and Switzerland.
Because Travix mainly sells air, CEO John Mangelaars said the
company was particularly interested in NDC. He said the company's goal is to
soon triple NDC bookings to 1,000 per day.
Amadeus provides NDC content from 16 airlines, said Decius
Valmorbida, Amadeus' president of travel channels. He called the Travix ticket
volume "a meaningful size of NDC transactions."
