MADRID, Spain -- Amadeus launched Amadeus Travel Assistance, a
product that enables travel agents to create and book travel
insurance packages for their customers in the CRS.
Integrated into the existing portfolio of Amadeus services,
Travel Assistance enables travel agents to find travel insurance
and travel assistance products that fit with their customers'
itineraries and to increase insurance sales commissions.
The product calculates the travel insurance costs, based on the
location, price and length of the trip, across a range of
participating insurance providers, based on the customer's booked
itinerary.
The service is being rolled out in France in partnership with
Generali France and will next be available in South America and
Scandinavia, according to Philippe Chereque, vice president of
product and marketing strategy at Amadeus.
A spokeswoman for Amadeus' U.S.-based marketing company in Miami
said, "We are currently in discussions with a number of U.S.
insurance companies regarding this product.
"Based on the progress we anticipate in bringing these companies
on board as Amadeus travel service providers, we hope to offer the
product in the U.S. sometime next year."
