FORT WORTH, Texas -- Travelocity.com began charging a $10 per
ticket service fee on United tickets in the absence of a marketing
agreement.
In recent months, Travelocity has revealed marketing pacts with
Northwest, Continental and Delta, which, of course, have all
eliminated commissions to traditional agencies in the past few
days.
Northwest and Continental eliminated Internet commissions months
earlier.
Asked if Travelocity receives cash -- as opposed to indirect
compensation -- for selling these carriers tickets, a Travelocity
spokesman said: "That's a general detail that's correct."
