Travelport has acquired Hotelzon, provider of a hotel booking tool for corporations.
Travelport said that only 30-50% of corporate travel hotel purchases go through travel agencies, with many business travelers booking directly with the hotel.
The acquisition brings 30,000 more hotels into Travelport’s Travel Commerce Platform, including independent and small-chain properties in Europe that previously were not available.
Travelport CEO Gordon Wilson said that Hotelzon was the “perfect complement to our existing capabilities with the large, global chain hotels which we are progressively connecting to our system via direct XML capabilities and our aggregation of unmatched retail rates through our Rooms and More offering based on metasearch technology. “
Hotelzon will continue to operate under its existing brand, led by CEO Jani Kaskinen.
