Worldspan to up booking fees 2% for airlines

ATLANTA -- Worldspan will raise the CRS booking fees it charges the typical carrier in the U.S., Canada and Latin America about 2% beginning Feb. 1, the company said.

Elsewhere, basic fees will not increase, although the CRS company will add a 14 cent cancel fee.

In 2001, Worldspan hiked booking fees some 4% outside the U.S., Canada and Latin America, but wouldn't estimate the increase in the latter countries because fees were tied to system usage.

The CRS company's estimated 2% hike on Feb. 1 in the U.S., Canada and Mexico follows announced increases by Sabre (2.9% globally) and Amadeus (2% worldwide) through May 1, when it will consider upping it to 5.4%.

Galileo, meanwhile, indicated it was monitoring market conditions and was not raising CRS booking fees at this juncture.
