Four years later, he was named Cybertimes Editor, one of three staff members chosen by the Times to found the New York Times website. He returned to the newsroom in 1998 as the Times’ Technology News Editor and Personal Computing columnist. Fixmer left the Times in 2000 to become Editor-in-Chief of Interactive Week, a leading technology trade newspaper published by Ziff Davis.
