Salamander Hotels & Resorts’ new Fishing Lodge Cap Cana near Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, announced introductory rates and packages for its Oct. 12 opening.

Starting rates for the villa resort begin at $99 per room, per night, single or double occupancy. Rates are valid through the end of the year.

A five-night, three-round golf package with play at the nearby Punta Espada Golf Club begins at $140 per person, per night, double, valid through 2011.

The property includes 299 one-, two- and three-bedroom villas of which 220 will be available to resort guests. The remainder of the units are privately owned.

Fishing Lodge is not an all-inclusive resort but does offer package plans with meals and beverages that start at $174.50 per person, per night, double.

The property is located within a planned village that surrounds the largest marina in the Caribbean.

Facilities include two restaurants, three bars, four pools, a 16th-century stone wedding chapel, boutiques and an outdoor amphitheater.

Fishing Lodge is the first property to open within Salamander’s Grand Resorts at Cap Cana collection.

Ocean Club Cap Cana, its second property, will open in 2012 as a 92-room boutique hotel.
